Meet our new International Sports Consultant: Sander de Brito Roque
On February 1, 2022, I started my new job as International Sports Consultant at NMC Bright. A challenge that I am very much looking forward to.
Who am I?
Let me first introduce myself: Sander de Brito Roque. A real sports freak. From tennis to cycling and from ice skating to hockey. Working out myself and following all kinds of sports is a great hobby of mine. But my real passion is football. After playing football myself for almost ten years, I was asked to referee youth matches at my club, SVS in Capelle aan den IJssel. I liked it so much that I decided to follow a refereeing course. This journey has led me to the top of amateur football, where I am still active as a referee.
Head Teacher
I have worked for the KNVB for the past nine years, the last five years were as a Head Teacher. In that role, I was responsible for the education of KNVB teachers, creating course programs and learning interventions. A job in a world that suited me very well. But I noticed I was up to something new.
Switch to NMC Bright
In October, I saw a job offer on Twitter. NMC Bright was looking for a Sports Consultant, and suddenly I felt that this was what I’m looking for. Within NMC Bright, I will be involved in the program football development in Aruba and Bonaire. I will help the football associations there to develop the football policy that arises from strategic plans. How do we get more women to play football, how do we train players and coaches, and how can we help clubs to develop in structure and organization. A very nice challenge.
Learning in sports
In addition, I will also be working on a theme that is very close to my heart. Learning in sports. Something I did for years as an educator. My goal is to give this theme an even more prominent place within federations and clubs. In the coming period, I will have many conversations with people in my network to develop this theme. If you want to get in touch with me about this topic, let me know!
I’m really looking forward to my time at NMC Bright. Good contact with colleagues and a pleasant, informal atmosphere is important to me. I can say that the first days are promising!
